Leonie Cohen Plus

Commissioned and recorded by the ABC, Leonie Cohen Plus is releasing their debut CD Jerusalem through the Jazzgroove label.

The recording comprises Leonie’s original and fresh arrangements of Jewish material.

The band has previously played at the Melbourne International Women’s Jazz Festival (Bennett’s Lane) and for SIMA at their old venue the Side-On Cafe.

A graduate of the jazz course at the Sydney Conservatorium where she studied with Roger Frampton, Judy Bailey and Mike Nock, pianist/composer Leonie Cohen has been working on the Sydney scene as a musician, arranger, composer and teacher for some years.

For the launch the band welcomes back the brilliant saxophonist Roger Manins, now living in New Zealand.
