The Bell Awards recognise and encourage excellence in the performance, recording and presentation of jazz in Australia.

Inaugurated in 2003, the Awards generate enormous publicity for nominees and winners alike. As a result, they continue to grow in size and prestige. In 2006, we introduced international critics on the jury panel, which ensured international coverage for the 2006 winners. This year’s jury panel will again comprise local and international judges.

Nominations close on 14 February 2007 and entries received after this date will not be eligible.

It is the responsibility of the nominating label and/or artist to determine which category is most appropriate for their nomination album. Record labels may nominate more than one artist for any appropriate category. Please note that:-

  • Nominated albums must have been released between 1st January 2006 and 31st December 2006. Re-issues of older recordings are excluded from all categories.
  • Ten (10) copies of each nominated CD per Category are required for submission to the judging panel.
  • A Supporting Statement and Biography of each nominated Artist is required for submission to the judging panel.

The nominee shortlist will be announced in mid April 2007.

The winners will be announced at the Bell Awards Gala Dinner on Wednesday 2 May 2007, at Crown Entertainment Complex, Melbourne.
