Jazz Organism

Led by guitarist Jeremy Sawkins, Jazz Organism is a diverse and colourful and relatively new band.

A prominent member of the local scene, Jeremy is best known for his playing in Wanderlust and as leader of his own groups. Since its inception in 2003, Jazz Organism performed regularly until Jeremy left for Dublin in July 2004 where a local version of the band was formed featuring Irish organist Justin Carroll and American drummer Jon Mele.

They performed in 2005 at both the Bray Jazz Festival and the prestigious Cork Jazz Festival, as well as gigs in and around Dublin. A live recording of the Dublin band is to be released.

Returning to Australia in 2006, the band has already performed for SIMA last year and tonight, will present a program of mainly original compositions with a spectrum of sounds from Messiaen to Hendrix and beyond.
