Mark Isaacs’ album Resurgence receives ARIA award nomination for Best Jazz Album
ABC Jazz is proud to announce that Resurgence has been nominated for Best Jazz Album in this year’s ARIA awards. The album, released in June, is Mark Isaacs’ latest CD, recorded at Capitol Studios, Hollywood with a dream Australian-American band including legendary drummer Vinnie Colaiuta (Herbie Hancock, Sting, Frank Zappa) and ARIA award-winning Australian guitarist James Muller.
Following the release and excellent reviews both in Australia and overseas, the all-Australian Resurgence band played the Queensland Music Festival and went on to major festivals in Japan, Korea and Thailand.
From October 25 to November 25 the band will be undertaking a 14-concert Australian tour taking in all the States and Territories and including the Wangaratta Festival of Jazz.
Mark Isaacs – who also is a composer and pianist in classical music – recently received the 2007 Albert H. Maggs Composition Award from the University of Melbourne and has curated the 2007 Brisbane Jazz Festival at Brisbane Powerhouse November 1-4.
