Exposed Bone

Exposed Bone’s first disc – Smokin da bone – set the band creditably alongside Sydney jazz-world music – rock outfits such as the catholics and Wanderlust. Borthwick weaves agile lines around lazy trombone yawns and raking blasts. Turn it up! A superb cast of players on a satisfying disc. – John Clare, Spectrum, SMH.

Jeremy Borthwick has been playing trombone professionally for 20 years and has performed throughout Queensland, NSW and Europe. Now resident in Sydney for almost 10 years, he has since established himself as a regular in the jazz scene, working with artists and groups including The Catholics, Steve Hunters’ Nine Lives, E.O.N, James Morrison, Jonathon Swartz and Monica Trapaga. As leader of his own band, Exposed Bone, he is gaining recognition alongside other outstanding jazz-world-rock music ensembles such as The catholics and Wanderlust.

Borthwick takes the jazz tradition and experiments with it, pushes it in new directions, drawing from African rhythms, folk melodies and funk grooves…this is exactly where ‘jazz should be going – Drum Media.

As one of Sydney’s most enduring bands, Exposed Bone portrays a sense of fun and high energy. The band will be performing new material for their third album and that With Ben Hauptmann winning second place at the 2007 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz, this band is in excellent form. Come and catch them live.
