SNAP

SNAP is a saxophone quartet, featuring some of Sydney’s most respected instrumentalists.

Their collective resume includes gigs and/or recordings with: The Australian Art Orchestra, The catholics, Clarion Fracture Zone, Vince Jones, Guy Klucevsek, Gary Lucas, The Microscopic Septet, James Morrison, Mike Nock, ROVA, Mikel Rouse, Sousaphonics, Lenny Pickett, The Umbrellas, 10 Part Invention, The Whitlams, & John Zorn. Individually, they have toured Australia, Asia, Europe, the U.S.

In addition to original compositions by Sandy and Phillip, the repertoire draws on contemporary compositions by both Australian and American composers, and will feature the Sydney premier of Sandy’s suite Five Portraits of Bellingen.

At the 2007 Jazz:Now Festival at the Sydney Opera House, John Shand of the Sydney Morning Herald described them as [creating] sonorities ranging from the Ellingtonian to the spiky.
