One of Australia’s finest jazz bands, and winners of a Mo Award for Best Jazz Group, the Catholics are led by bass player Lloyd Swanton. The Catholics compose nearly all their own tunes and their influences include the dance rhythms of African, Caribbean, Latin and Eastern music.
The catholics’ music is a unique, powerful jazz blowing on dance rhythms, all framed by very catchy melodies, with slide guitar and percussion to the fore.
...Their perky brand of freewheeling world music that cares little for origins and has the distinct capacity to make you dance – Toronto Star, Canada.
