Trio Apoplectic

Trio Apoplectic

Original, often exploratory, and very well played. Some of the playing is reminiscent of Sydney legend Bernie McGann’s trio – 4 stars, John McBeath, The Australian.

In Sydney as part of their 20 gigs – 18 town tour from Canberra to Cairns, Trio Apoplectic is keen to assert the relevance of jazz as a contemporary art form and to take it beyond the confines of metropolitan centres, despite their standing within the Sydney jazz scene.

Much in demand individually as superb musicians they have performed with some of Australia’s finest including Bernie McGann, Jim Denley, Lloyd Swanton, The Splinter Orchestra and Adrian Klumpes (from Triosk).

They have also performed at Jazz:Now Festival at Sydney Opera House and the Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival.

In addition to the regular trio format, the group has worked as a quartet with trumpet master Warwick Alder and has been involved in a project collaborating with a number of poets.

Don’t miss your chance to hear the next generation of Australian jazz!

The Three Omegas

In this debut SIMA performance, The Three Omegas present a unique approach to the guitar trio format. Formed in 2007, their music is stripped back to its raw elements where aspects of rhythm and melody are allowed to be treated delicately and can often build into surging waves of sound with a minimalist approach.

The Three Omegas

With three outstanding young jazz musicians, expect a vibrant hour of music!
