Elliott has studied music and toured to over 40 countries, performing with many internationally renowned improvisers such as Misha Mengelberg, Steve Lacy and Erik Griswold. Elliott has led two ensembles Artisans Workshop (1989-1996) and Interactive Performance Space Quartet (1996-2002) as well as performing as a soloist with ensembles such Australian Chamber Orchestra; Sydney Alpha Ensemble; Electra String Quartet; AustraLYSIS; Roger Frampton Quartet; Melbourne Symphony Orchestra; Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra and The Queensland Orchestra.

Elliott won the National Jazz Saxophone Competition in 1995 and the Optus National Travelling Scholarship in 1998 and has received over 30 grants from the Australia Council and State Art funding bodies for his arts projects nationally.

Commercially released on over 35 CDs nationally and internationally, Elliott’s current 2007-08 recording projects are to release a 5 CD box set, The Mute Canary Project, of duet recordings with pianists Misha Mengelberg, Roger Dean, Tom Vincent and Erik Griswold; a solo sopranino saxophone CD of improvisations; and a duet disc of interactive technology with saxophone featuring Roger Dean (computer and piano).
