Shannon Barnett Quartet

Gifted young composer and trombonist, Shannon Barnett has made a huge impression on the jazz scene and SIMA is delighted to have her lead her quartet project with a few fresh faces from the Sydney scene.

Fresh from performing with five different ensembles at the 2007 Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival, Shannon Barnett has spent the past few months touring and performing with pianists Barney McAll and Aaron Choulai. Somehow, the 25-year-old trombonist has also found time to launch her new quartet, which gave its debut performance at Bennetts Lane in November 2007 – an extension of the Barnett/Lee/Hendry trio that came together in early 2006 and with whom the young trombonist rapidly built a clear rapport.
