Welcome back to The catholics!
Here is a rare opportunity to hear this outstanding ensemble in the intimate space of The Sound Lounge and be a part of the live recording of their first-ever live album.
The catholics have always used their shows at the Sound Lounge to not only introduce new material, but to reinterpret older tunes from the band’s 17-year history. Leader Lloyd Swanton says “the results have been so startling and fresh that we decided it was high time we got it all down on tape”.
So for two consecutive nights, The catholics are bringing in a mobile recording unit to capture all the magic of their performances, for their first-ever live album, to be released next year on Bugle Records.
The band combines improvised jazz with influences from African, Eastern and Caribbean music – an ambitious and clever diversity that fully embraces the meaning of “universal”.
The group has recorded five albums – including Simple, which the Rolling Stone praised for it’s “richness, diversity, accessibility, virtuosity, imagination and inventiveness”.
The catholics’ shows at the Sound Lounge always sell out, so be sure to book now, to be part of this great event.
