Phil Slater Quartet

The Phil Slater Quartet is one of Australia’s premier jazz ensembles.

Led by multi-award winning trumpeter Phil Slater, the group features pianist Matt McMahon, bassist Lloyd Swanton, and drummer Simon Barker.

The Quartet’s recording The Thousands has been acclaimed by critics around the world and was awarded the 2007 Limelight Award for Outstanding Achievement in Australian Jazz.

The Quartet was recently named 2008 Australian Jazz Ensemble of the Year at the Australian Bell Jazz Awards, featured at the 2008 Sydney Festival Jazz in the Domain event, and was invited by Dave Douglas to perform at the prestigious Festival of New Trumpet concert series in New York later in September last year.
