The Resurgence Band’s debut CD Tell It Like It Is (recorded live at The Sound Lounge, Sydney) was released in May by ABC Jazz. Defined as ‘what jazz should sound like at the advent of the 21st Century’ (Cadence, USA), the debut CD garnered an ARIA Award nomination for Best Jazz Album and an Australian Classical Music Award for Instrumental Work of the Year.
Mark originally put together a USA-version of Resurgence, recording there with American luminaries, drummer Vinnie Colaiuta and saxophonist Bob Sheppard. Subsequently, the all-Australian Resurgence Band came together and has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, with highly successful Asian and Australian tours every year since 2007.
With two ARIA nominations in three years, this is an exciting band definitely making waves in the Australian contemporary jazz scene. Over both nights at The Sound Lounge, hear new music the band has added to their repertoire since the CD release.
Isaacs’ best and hottest jazz album to date… the Resurgence Band’s energy and acute interplay, mixed with some of the pianist’s best charts ever, make it an album that deserves attention far beyond Australia’s shores – All About Jazz (USA)
