Mike Nock Trio

Spotlighted by the Sydney Magazine as “One of the Top 100 Most Influential People”, Mike Nock is one of the acknowledged masters of jazz in Australasia.

His influence as a mentor to young musicians is renowned and his reputation as a creative force in modern music rests partly on his imposing international experience having worked in the USA for 25 years with many of the world’s top jazz musicians such as Coleman Hawkins, Yusef Lateef and Michael Brecker.

Mike has created a substantial body of original compositions and has produced a large catalogue of critically acclaimed, internationally released recordings as a soloist and bandleader of a vast array of groups, but quite notably his trio format, which has had various rhythm sections over the years as part of Mike’s mentorship of the next generation of jazz stars.

The current Mike Nock Trio features bassist Ben Waples and drummer James Waples, two extraordinarily talented and creative young musicians who are in demand with many leading bands. The trio recently recorded two CDs and is currently working on another project – CET (Creative Electronic Trio) featuring their electronic concepts.
