… from the opening notes of solo saxophone, Ginsburg rains gorgeous melodies about our ears…it is the way this melodic lavishness continues through the improvising that the album special… John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald

Following the critically acclaimed release of his evocative Generations album Mark Ginsburg takes his highly talented band on the road for a unique musical experience. At times haunting, yet melodic and beautiful, the group strikes a skilful balance between moments of intensity and tranquillity. Performing material from the recent album as well as some new material recently penned by Mark, the music explores ancient modes with modern themes and draws on the research on Jewish cantorial singing that Mark has been undertaking as part of a Masters degree at the Conservatorium of Music.

Generations - Mark Ginsburg

Mark Ginsburg emerged as a saxophonist of note in Cape Town where he frequently performed at popular jazz venues such as the Hohenhort as well as performing in shows, television programs and on tours, including a two-month tour working with notorious British comedian Spike Milligan. Since migrating to Australia, Mark has performed and collaborated extensively with vocalist Judy Campbell. Mark completed a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Performance at the Sydney Conservatorium in 2003 and is one of the founding members of Judy Campbell’s MOSAIC, contributing compositions and arrangements for the band. Generations is the first release for Ginsburg as a bandleader.
