Jazz Visions is a celebration of innovative pioneers of Australian jazz with a range of young artists who are part of the current wave of creativity and excitement. While some have seen jazz as an exclusivist music—and like all art forms it sometimes has an intense inward focus—jazz has also drawn from many sources, incorporating exotic textures, rhythms and colours with surprising facility and depth of knowledge. JOHN CLARE, Jazz Critic

Jazz Visions brings together some of the many visionary jazz artists in the Sydney and Australian jazz and improvisation scene. It’s a series of musician snapshots that we hope will stimulate and engage the jazz and general music lover in appreciating the diversity and creativity of musicians. The range is broad and encompasses many colours of the jazz spectrum from modern mainstream jazz to the further reaches of free/jazz. PETER RECHNIEWSKI, Artistic Director
