Aron Ottignon (piano)                 Ollie McGill (piano)

London-based pianist Aron Ottignon takes to the stage with musical collaborator Ollie McGill of The Cat Empire. Expect sparks to fly on both pianos as the pair ignite the Sound Lounge and audiences with an exciting repertoire and their boldly individual styles.

Recognised as a prodigy at jazz piano very early on, Aron Ottignon made an astonishing Australian debut when, at sixteen, he was runner-up in the National Jazz Awards at the 1999 Wangaratta Festival of Jazz. Since then, his artistic development has easily fulfilled that early promise through groups like the Space Cadets, The Ottignon Brothers Band, Aronas, his own exciting trio and various international collaborations. A multi-award winner (Young Australian Jazz Musician of the Year, Bell Awards, Best Album) he is praised widely by critics and audiences alike.

Ollie McGill is an Australian pianist best known for his role as the keyboard player and backing vocalist for hugely successful band The Cat Empire, whose sound has been described as a fusion of jazz, funk and rock with Latin and salsa influences. True to the Cat Empire’s message, Ollie's playing is also about breaking down borders: musical, geographic, lingual. Ollie is also a member of several  Melbourne-based bands, including The Genie (a fusion band) and The Conglomerate, a modern jazz quartet. His playing has been described as that of a “50 year old life time jazz player”, not bad for one so young.

An exciting night of music that is sure to sell out.
