A unique music education program for high school students
The objective of the program is to give high school students the opportunity to experience live jazz performances by some of Australia’s leading groups in a jazz club atmosphere.
With high school big bands and small jazz bands proliferating in both public and private schools, parents and high schools endeavour to give the young experience of a broad range of acoustic music. This program is designed to reach this unique audience base and connect with the next generation of young jazz musicians. COOL FOR SCHOOL program also gives some of Australia’s strongest jazz bands an opportunity to interact with a young audience and also give students a rare opportunity to listen to, meet and interact with leading professional contemporary jazz musicians.
Program features:
• A series of 3-6 concerts annually – most with two bands performing one 50 minute set.
• Quality educational resources: An accompanying program brochure and compilation CD
• Structured Q&A session with the bandleaders and musicians, focusing on the music, the jazz idiom and jazz as a career
