SIMA is committed to supporting the jazz sector and providng professional development opportunities to musicians.  In 2012 we launch our Artists in Transition (AiT) program which aims to support professional jazz musicians by creating more opportunities to further develop their careers.

Inaugural artists for this program are Jackson Harrison (winner 2008 National Jazz award), Nick Garbett (3rd place 2010 National Jazz award) and Jeremy Rose (2009 Bell Award for Young Australian Jazz Artist of the Year) and singer Jo Fabro (finalist 2005 National Jazz award, Triple J Unearthed artist).

This new initiative supports artists who are beyond ‘emerging’ stages.  It offers support to enable them to reach the next stage of their careers as professional practising artists.

We aim to build support networks, performance opportunities and assist with career development

The initial two-year pilot program begins in 2012.
