"The sound of midnight in Paris" **** John Shand, Sydney Morning Herald

We are very happy to announce that pianist Chris Cody who has been living in Paris for over twenty years has returned to live in Sydney. To celebrate his return, he takes to the Sound Lounge stage with his new trio to play his latest compositions. Chris has been a regular performer for SIMA on previous visits to Sydney over the last twenty years with a variety of ensembles under the banner Chris Cody Coalition.

While in France Chris Cody played extensively in clubs and festivals around USA, Europe and Africa with a wide range of well-known musicians including Rick Margitza, Roy Hargrove, Herb Geller, Sunny Murray, Marcel Azzola, Glenn Ferris, Annie Whitehead, Barry Altschul, Carla Bruni, and Michel Jonasz. Aside from appearing on numerous CDs as both leader and sideman, he has also written and produced music for theatre, television and cinema in Europe, North America and Australia.

Cody’s music reveals not only his deep love of the jazz and classical traditions, but also the influence of contemporary French, African and Arab musicians he has worked with in Paris. Blended with contemporary urban grooves, its warmth, lyricism and humour have seduced a wide and diverse public around the world receiving rave reviews from the critics.
