ARON OTTIGNON - EXCLUSIVE CONCERTS THIS FEBRUARY!
SIMA plays host to two nights of piano wizardry as pianist/composer Aron Ottignon makes a rare Sydney appearance from his London/Paris base.
A member of an extremely talented and musical family which includes brothers Matt Ottignon (saxophone) and Eden (bass) who join him on The Sound Lounge stage on Friday 10 February, Aron was recognised as a child prodigy at jazz piano very early. He began winning international awards in music from age 11, including the prestigious Wangaratta National Jazz Award at just 16. Since then, his career simply took off. And so did he.
As well as an international solo career, Aron is also leader of his own trio and of Aronas, a cult Jazz/dance/world band whose electronic and tribal rhythms from the South Pacific, rock and classical piano, jazz, punk and Caribbean percussion rhythms are infectious and hugely original. He has been successfully touring his debut album Culture Tunnels around the world and SIMA is thrilled to have him play two exceptional gigs - one in quartet with The Ottignon Brothers (Friday 10 Feb) and the much-anticipated exclusive duelling pianos gig with Ollie McGill of The Cat Empire (Friday 17 Feb). Expect sparks to fly as the pair ignite the Sound Lounge with their boldly individual styles.
